Daron Little
Bio

2009 Academy of Western Artist’s Top Male Vocalist-Western Daron Little is a working ranch cowboy, guitar picker, and singer/songwriter of contemporary cowboy music!

Daron grew up in Central Louisiana not far from where Jerry Lee Lewis and Mickey Gilley established themselves. The roots of Old Country, Bluegrass, Rockabilly and Blues melded into a style of guitar playing and music that gives a distinct flavoring to his style of present-day cowboy music. His family made a trip out to Wyoming when he was eleven, and it was his first taste of the great expanse of “The West” in which he fell in love. In his early 20’s Daron got the cowboying bug working summers guiding in northeast Wyoming and Southeast Montana and eventually Southeast Wyoming near Saratoga (where he now makes his home). After college, he started cowboying on ranches around the west fulltime and has punched cattle in Wyoming, Montana, Nebraska, and Colorado.

He continues to cowboy for a living and feels that it is that gives his music an authenticity lacking in some western music of today. “There are so many talented artists that can play the traditional songs and the songs of the Saturday Matinee’ Cowboys that I don’t even dare to go there…But I believe that I can give today’s working for a living ranch cowboy a voice. “ says Daron.

Daron’s taste in music is somewhat eclectic and his music provides a flavor of that while being traditional and mainstream enough to appeal to the casual Western and Cowboy music fan.

“He’s got the integrity of Mike Beck and the Western core experience of Ian Tyson, but he's set out on his own trail with musical assistance of artists as diverse as Muddy Waters, Jack Johnson and Bob Marley” says Rick Huff (Radio and television host and producer and writer of the column, Western Air which covers the Western radio scene. The column is a regular feature of the Western Music Association’s quarterly magazine, The Western Way)

Marvin O'Dell (host of Around the Campfire- Heartland Public Radio) and Western Music Associations 2009 Song of the Year and Songwriter of the Year recipient comments This is the finest pure cowboy music CD I've received in quite awhile. People need to hear your music

Western Music Association 2009 Radio Personality of the Year, Barb Richart, the Western Belle of Dryland Community Radio’s KSJD remarks "Daron Little writes about what he knows - Cowboying! As Daron sings, you are there in the saddle as more than a specatator along this musical trail he rides.
I believe this young man is a true Cowboy Singer/Songwriter. I know my listeners like his sound and I believe you will also. Tracks that I picked off of his new CD entitled "...The Faraway Look" are "Rawhide and Horsesweat" also "In California". Daron is a true cowboy of today's West! Good Job Cowboy!"

It is such comments as these that have garnered Daron Top 10 Radio airplay in the Western Music Market and such recognition as the 2009 Will Rogers Award from the Academy Of Western Artists for Top Male Vocalist - Western . Fellow nominees were Western Music Legend Ian Tyson, Master Singer / Songwriter Dave Stamey, Western Channel’s Bill Barwick, and Oklahoma Rancher and Cowboy singer Gary S. Pratt.
“It was quite an Honor to be nominated with some of my musical heroes on this, my first release”

At Home in the Saddle or on Stage, whether there is a Rope or a Guitar in his hands…
